John Spinello is the man who invented the beloved board game, Operation. In a cruel twist of fate, Spinello can’t afford to pay for his own surgical procedure.

Spinello sold the rights to the game back in the 1960s for a mere $500. He was just a college student back then.

Spinello was doing alright financially until a few years ago, when his warehouse company went bankrupt.

Now, Spinello needs oral surgery that will cost approximately $25,000. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have the money to pay for it.

But, there is hope. Spinello’s friends have started a crowdfunding campaign via Crowdrise in an attempt to raise the necessary funds for Spinello’s surgery.

At this point in time, the campaign has already reached its goal, so it looks like Spinello will get his operation after all.
